Hey Everyone,

Here's a video of me at the Die Mannequin concert in Milton on December 9th 2009. It was a crazy show. The singer climbed up on everything she could find including tables, amps, drums, the bar, people etc...She dove into the crowd like 4 times. She played guitar with a beer bottle then smashed it. Their singles "Do It Or Die" and "Bad Medicine" are featured in this video as well as a dancing Granny on the stage!

countdown to tour, MOD, randomness

hey y'all.....

we're getting all excited and anxious to leave, complete with the little piddles of pee in our undies.....now thats excited! hope your are too, cuz we're ready to knock yer socks off (and hey, maybe yer undies too) with this one...we've got some new toons, new noise, lotsa new, so expect-not a repeat of previous tours...mind you, little rituals will still be intact, ie. care losing her shit in the audience, you having to plug your ears here and there..that stuff we just can't stop....

anyways, just wanted to give ya's a heads up on whats to come....for one, we've gotten ahold of a handy little device that can film and take pictures and stuff--imagine that!--so we're gonna be posting stuff often as we cross this crazy country of ours, so check back here, well....often! it should be entertaining...or shit, it might just be downright boring....time will tell! you of course are encouraged to make your way out to yer local watering hole that we've selected to ravage that nite, and join in the debauching with us. and as you may or may not know, we're bringing along another little band from ontario, 'raggedy angry'...we've yet to play with them, or even meet them for that matter, but they'll definitely add to the mayhem each nite will bring, so we're looking forward to that...

a couple reminders/notices: if you live in the toronto area, OR if you are one of the few lucky kids that have MuchMusic zapped into your television (ie. everyone), remember that on December 9th, we, for the first time, will be the musical guest on MuchOnDemand!!!!
as the routine goes, we'll do some interview stuff, then play some music for canaduh! whether they like it or not, hahaha....if you're one of those that live in the city though, don't be lazy and sit in your living room for it....cuz we all know, watching live music on the tube, especially our music, is far less...ummmm, ball-busting would be the term....our aim is to shake the glass of the starbucks across the street, and we could only hope, fuck with the queen street rush-hour traffic! as a driver myself, i curse whatever band is playing at much when i'm trying to get thru that stupid intersection, but hey, i'll be inside playing! so no problem......come one, come all, be there or be square, and god dammit, show daddy who loves him!.....yaaaa, daddy would be us....

so, that seems to be it for now....oh, if any of you are into 69 Eyes, the Finnish metal band, care and i are on their new cd, care doing some singing/sexual noise parts
(heyaa! just sold them a few extra copies!....you perverts), and myself doing some background shouts/growls/arrghs....i think our personal fave was 'dead girls are easy', with that one getting the 'obvious statement/clever perviness award'...haha...it was done last spring in LA, at our lovely producer Matt Hyde's studio, and was alot of fun to do...not like they need the plug, but if yer into dark european metal, with a flare for good humour and some 80's riffage, check em out.....cool?

hey folks

the 'so proudly we fail forever' tour's all booked, and we're packing our layers to cross this coldass country once again! this time around its our own tour, and the shows are mostly at bars, which is a good thing cuz (a) the stages are lower (so no re-breaking of ms. failure's foot, jumping off 7-ft stages!), and (b) we get to hang out with y'all...so some good times shall be had! the list is final, so if we're not coming to your city, we apologize, but hey, we're making a roadtrip across the country, so if the closest one is a few hours away, why not make a roadtrip too? fun for all! for some cities we're not hitting, we'll be doing more canadian stuff in the new year, so hold tight....also, when possible, we booked all ages/licensed shows, cuz the underagers gotta have some fun too!

we're also finally gonna break our MuchOnDemand virginity! well, they interviewed care last tour, but this time round, we're playing some toons! its gonna be on December 9th in the afternoon, before we play milton that nite...exact time and details will be posted closer to the date...and rush-hour commuters beware! we'll be shutting down queen street that day!....just kidding....

so its time for our second single/video, which, as i mentioned last time, is gonna be 'dead honey'...it'll be getting play on the good radio station in yer area any time soon..we filmed the video for it this week, which is gonna look great...i can't say too much though, so not to give away the premise...well, ok...so there's a happy family of worker bees (me, care, daz and stacy) working on making honey, when suddenly, a pack of killer bees (some shitty emo band) with H1N1 attack! they lay waste to us and our honey factory with the pig-flu, whining lyrics and annoying angular haircuts! ok, thats a lie....you'll have to just wait and see the video, but till then, here's a couple pix taken by our friend mikey sin...the shoot was a longass day/nite as usual, but with the help of a great NYC director, Moh Azima, and an amazing crew, it's gonna be a fine piece of work, so thanks to all who worked on it...

lastly, its worth mentioning, we've officially released 'Unicorn Steak' in Japan! there's already been a bunch of interviews and radio promo for the release and we'll do our first tour over there in the new year...so domo arigato, mr roboto! chances are we'll go there with a band that already do well there, Fake Shark-Real Zombie, from vancouver, who are also the newest kids born to the Shull Management family! welcome, doods...check out their myspace, they're amazing....

well kiddies, short and tall, fat and small, we've finished tour #1 for fino+bleed with manson, and we wanna first thank all of y'all for coming out and making it a blast.....

the antichrist did indeed warm our little hearts, and whatdya know, he didn't have me choked out for telling him 'good show'! (i'm looking at you, mr axl (corn)rose)....band and crew were nothing but welcoming and helpful, so much thanks to mr manson and his crew..

and for the no-thanks, a big fuck you to the redneck at the local calgary pub attended after-show by our beloved new rhythm guitar player, stacy straye....stacy just wanted to play a simple round of pool with you, maybe even become pals! when you brushed him off repeatedly tho, and he called you a dick, there was no need to cheapshot his face into the elephant man! two left hooks, and suddenly we've got the kid from 'mask' in our band! whaaaaa?!? awww, welcome to the rough road stace! our fault, we forgot to tell you bout that black cloud that loves to follow us, hahaha.... swelling's gone, and a descent story for the books.....and a warning to all: don't try to play pool in calgary with fat fuck redneck babies that don't like to share....

that'd explain why, in the few subsequent shows, you only might have seen stacy's left side...didn't matter tho, dude fucking killed it every show from victoria to halifax..next to him, on the kit, you also got a load of ball-busting beats every nite from one who goes by daz...dazzer beat the shit out of his kit, as well as every city's ears each nite, and with the addition of these two beasts, die mannequin is now firing on all cylinders---keeping on with the massacre...together, we will, more now than ever, slay bad music!

as usual, yours truly, and our reigning queen of self-destruction, little miss failure, did not emerge completely unscathed tho....myself, just a little gash over the eye thanks to dazzer wailing on a six-stringed instrument he had no control of (hey, he's a drummer, whatdya expect?!), while ending our set with a trade-off with care, making our beautifully chaotic noise....no biggie--thx for the road-wound my friend! 

care, though, was not so lucky--her angry bones finally sought out the vengeance they've been looking for, after years of tossing them around/beating them, all for the sake of a good show....while playing the intro to the first song of the set in halifax friday nite, her usual shenanigans caused her foot to roll weird...nothing too strange, as she makes the stage her personal playground/beating victim for 40 mins a nite, jumping 7 feet off of it a few times to visit the crowd...well, this little roll of her foot broke two bones in her foot, but she plays the song anyways...tune's done, and all she asks is 'wrap it in duct tape and gimme a valium!'...well she got the tape, and played that show like any other, and yes, including 2 jumps to the floor/crowd! she's no idiot, she's a rock n roll fuckin trooper....AFTER the show is when i took her to the hospital and with the help of dazzer's local cousin/dr steve feelgood, and got her a nice xray and big honkin cast as a souvenier from halifax!  unfortunately, that made the last show of the tour, in moncton, a no-go...and for this, care and we feel ever-so-sad....cuz we know moncton is the badass, sludge-loving son of new brunswick...not to worry though, we will be back sooner than later...cool?

and that was that! thanks again to all who rocked with us, bought our shit, and had us sign it---you rule, and we do this for you...also, a huge thanks to our rookie-now-veteran of the road, josh, er junior, er tacos, errrr, the coolest/most competent tech this band's ever had the pleasure of rolling with! dude, you killed it---he was the floppy-haired little punk you saw playing 'bad meds' and 'don't say motherfucker, motherfucker' with us every nite too---he's a multi-tasker, and a true genius! so thanks brother....you may have also seen the elusive figure known as mr butterscotch chasing care around every nite, and helping tacos apply duct-tape to care's broken ass-kicker....thanks to you, brotha, our shit coulda slipped out at the seams if not for you....now get back to managing this fuckin band!

canada, you ruled, and allowed us to destroy a stage in your town each nite for a month...so thank you, from the bottom of our heartless pits...we love you! ha.....

Guitar legend Les Paul dies at age 94

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — Les Paul, the guitarist and inventor who changed the
course of music with the electric guitar and multitrack recording and had
a string of hits, many with wife Mary Ford, died on Thursday. He was 94.

According to Gibson Guitar, Paul died of complications from pneumonia at
White Plains Hospital. His family and friends were by his side.

He had been hospitalized in February 2006 when he learned he won two
Grammys for an album he released after his 90th birthday, "Les Paul &
Friends: American Made, World Played."

"I feel like a condemned building with a new flagpole on it," he joked.

As an inventor, Paul helped bring about the rise of rock 'n' roll and
multitrack recording, which enables artists to record different
instruments at different times, sing harmony with themselves, and then
carefully balance the "tracks" in the finished recording.

With Ford, his wife from 1949 to 1962, he earned 36 gold records and 11
No. 1 pop hits, including "Vaya Con Dios," "How High the Moon," "Nola" and
"Lover." Many of their songs used overdubbing techniques that Paul the
inventor had helped develop.

"I could take my Mary and make her three, six, nine, 12, as many voices as
I wished," he recalled. "This is quite an asset." The overdubbing
technique was highly influential on later recording artists such as the
Carpenters.

The use of electric guitar gained popularity in the mid-to-late 1940s, and
then exploded with the advent of rock the 1950s.

"Suddenly, it was recognized that power was a very important part of
music," Paul once said. "To have the dynamics, to have the way of
expressing yourself beyond the normal limits of an unamplified instrument,
was incredible. Today a guy wouldn't think of singing a song on a stage
without a microphone and a sound system."

A tinkerer and musician since childhood, he experimented with guitar
amplification for years before coming up in 1941 with what he called "The
Log," a four-by-four piece of wood strung with steel strings.

"I went into a nightclub and played it. Of course, everybody had me
labeled as a nut." He later put the wooden wings onto the body to give it
a tradition guitar shape.

In 1952, Gibson Guitars began production on the Les Paul guitar.

Pete Townsend of The Who, Steve Howe of Yes, jazz great Al DiMeola and Led
Zeppelin's Jimmy Page all made the Gibson Les Paul their trademark
six-string.

Over the years, the Les Paul series has become one of the most widely used
guitars in the music industry. In 2005, Christie's auction house sold a
1955 Gibson Les Paul for $45,600.

we love, and have missed you...we are excited, and at the same time, sad to say we are returning to your beautiful/ass-kicking country, sad because its for just one date..

this will be MAY 16th, at Kesselhaus in Berlin, for the final show of the Jagermeister Rock Liga battle....and we need all of the loyal to join us if we are to be victorious!
as you know (if you were there for the last round), the winner is determined by audience noise after our performance, then at the end of the show..and for some reason, the sound of us booing ourselves just isn't enough to win! so this is a call to arms..to come and make the crazy noise you deutch's do at your football matches...

we're still busy finishing up last touches on the new album, which sounds fuckin amazing, if i may say so myself...ahem...you will be able to decide this for yourself when its released this summer, but we will throw up some little tastes here, so keep yer eyes peeled...

care has truly outdone herself putting together an amazing collection of ballbusting tunes, with help from master-producer-extraordinaire Matt Hyde, as well as yours truly..
creating our first full-length "Fino+Bleed" has taken plenty of blood and sweat...no tears really, just alotta stink..and we can't wait for you to hear it..better yet, come see us and hear a couple new ones in berlin!

Dear friends,

Last week, on his first visit to Africa, Pope Benedict said that "[AIDS] cannot be overcome through the distribution of condoms, which even aggravates the problems".

The Pope's statement is at odds with the research on AIDS prevention, and a setback to decades of hard work on AIDS education and awareness. With powerful moral influence over more than 1.1 billion Catholics in the world, and 22 million HIV positive Africans, these words could dramatically affect the AIDS pandemic and put millions of lives at risk. Worldwide concern is starting to show results and a willingness by the Vatican to revise the statement - sign our urgent petition asking the Pope to take care not to undermine proven AIDS prevention strategies:

This is not a religious dispute, but a grave public health concern. Personal beliefs of Catholics and all people should be respected, and the Pope's advocacy for a culture of fidelity and respect could be effective in AIDS prevention if condoms were not also discouraged. The Catholic Church engages in a vast amount of social service work, including the care of those living with AIDS. But the Pope's claim that condom distribution is not an effective AIDS prevention mechanism is not supported by research. It's untrue, and if it diminishes condom use, it will be deadly.

The fact is, HIV and AIDS are prevented by condom use. There is no easy solution to the spread of this tragic disease, but condoms and education are the best known prevention combination and have not been found to increase risky sexual behaviour. That is why even priests and nuns working in Africa have questioned the Pope's statements.

We may not be able to ask the Catholic Church to change its broader position, but we are asking the Pope to stop actively speaking out against prevention strategies that work. It's important that people of all beliefs, especially Catholics, call on the Pope to exercise care in his leadership on this issue.
